Israel Bachar

Over 20 years of success

Israel Bachar, the founder and CEO of Bachar Strategy, is one of the most influential campaign strategists in Israel.  For over twenty years, Bachar has advised politicians, government ministers, and international companies with his expertise in research, messaging strategies, and driving the media narratives of campaigns.

In 1999, Bachar served as a political advisor on the successful prime ministerial campaign of Ehud Barak.  Bachar continued to work with politicians, and after Benjamin Netanyahu suffered a stunning defeat in 2006, he hired Bachar as his campaign strategist in 2007.

In 2009, Bachar devised a strategy that led Netanyahu back to the Prime Minister’s office and increased the Likud party’s mandates from 12 to 27.  In the 2013 elections, during a tumultuous time for the Shas Party,  Bachar led the campaign strategy and won 11 mandates for the party.  Not one to rest on his laurels, in the 2015 elections, Bachar steered Moshe Kahlon and his new party, Kulanu, to a 10-seat victory in the Knesset.  Kahlon became Minister of Finance in the coalition government, another success for Bachar.

Always up for a challenge, Bachar became the chief strategist to former general turned politician,  Benny Gantz, and created the new political party Blue and White in the April 2019 elections.  Blue and White won an unprecedented 35 seats in the Knesset. A first in Israel’s political history.

Bachar continued to lead the campaign strategy in the September 2019 election, where Blue and White won the most mandates, 33 to Likud’s 32 seats.

In addition to his political clientele, Bachar has guided domestic and international companies in the Israeli market.  He has a track record of success working in the telecommunications industry, the gas industry, the finance industry and retail banking.  Recognizing the importance of giving back to the community, Bachar has also done pro-bono work for Shalva, the Israel Association for the Care and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.

Bachar received his undergraduate degree from Bar Ilan University in Tel Aviv and a Master’s degree in Communications, specializing in campaigning, from Fordham University, New York. Bachar has appeared as a political commentator on Channel 12’s national political show.  In 2009, Bachar was chosen in the top 40 under 40 marketing professionals by “The Marker,” Israel’s leading economic magazine.
